About

This site documentes the discovery of new mycobacteriophages by the General Biology class at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls during the 2011-12 academic year.  This class is part of the Science Education Alliance PHAGES program, sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.  During the Fall semester, students isolated phages from soil, viewed them via electron microscopy, and extract their DNA.  The DNA from one phage, Abrogate, was completely sequenced, and in the Spring semester students annotated the DNA and identified the phage genes.
